Indian Railways : Basic information about Revenues and Earnings
In the year April to January 2009, the Indian railway has updated its income status of approximately Rs 64,876.34 Crore, which is in comparison to last year earning is 13.17% higher.
In the case of cargo revenue, they have registered a growth of 13.64% i.e. to the Rs 44,016.26 crore in this period, customer revenue increased by 11.82% to Rs 18,042.82 crore, which is mentioned in the statement of ministry of railways. Railway is the best mean of cargo carriage in the country, in the year April -January 2009 it carried about 681.28 million tonnes of cargo. An appreciated increase was seen from the last year carriage i.e. of 5.68% which is higher than the previous year carriage of over 644.69 million tones. In January 2010 there is a increase of almost 3% in comparison to last year in the same month i.e. of 74.55 million tones of passage is seen.
There is a huge increase in the reservation part as in comparison to last year. The figure tells everything as in the year April- January 2009 the reservation was at 6.44% to 5,917.86 million. Now, the railway has increased its earning by offering various facilities to passengers.
