Railways are one of the oldest and major achievements of Indian transport. It covers geographical distances in a very short period of time as compared to bus. Delhi is the capital of India and is one of the densely populated areas of the country. So the railways have a lot of importance for the people of Delhi but they are suffering from a problem which is that, Delhi only has one main railway station in New Delhi due to which people living away from the station face a lot of problem.
The government of Delhi has now come up with a new strategy that is they have planned to construct two new stations. They will come up at Anand Vihar, bordering Uttar Pradesh, Holambi Kalan in North Delhi and Bijwasan in South West Delhi, both bordering Haryana. Their aim is to inaugurate these stations before the common wealth games, which is coming in October 2010. On the other hand they have also decided to reconstruct the old railway stations Four new platforms will be added in the counting of platforms of New Delhi and which will increase from 12 to 16.
The construction of these stations will also make the roads of Delhi less populated and the making of these stations will also share burden of the only present station. The government has already sanctioned 8.5 million rupees for the upgration of Anand Vihar station. We hope that these stations will start working before the common wealth games.
